A slender, museum-quality Art Nouveau vase of Bohemian manufacture by
\nCarl Goldberg (Haida), one of the leading masters of complex glass-finishing
\ntechniques at the turn of the century.<\/p>\n
The piece captivates with its elaborate relief design created using the acid-
\ncutback technique (employing a wax resist) on colorless crystal glass. It depicts
\nthree intertwined salamanders or lizards winding dynamically up the body of
\nthe vase. The reptile relief, as well as the distinctive interlaced pattern at the rim
\nand base, are hand-colored with vibrant red and green stains and accentuated
\nwith fine gold detailing (black enamel and gold outlines).<\/p>\n
