Antique Bohemian Garnet Brooch, Moon & Star, Art Nouveau, Gilded Tombac
Beautiful antique Art Nouveau brooch – Moon & Star with Bohemian garnets
For sale is a charming brooch from the Art Nouveau period (circa 1900). This delicate piece
of jewelry is crafted in the shape of a crescent moon, at the center of which shines a bright
eight-pointed star – a classic symbol of this era.
The brooch is set with numerous deep red Bohemian garnets. These are cut in an antique
rose cut, giving them a fiery sparkle when light hits them.
Made of high-quality tombac (a gold-copper alloy), typical for authentic garnet jewelry from
Bohemia during this period. The reverse shows a beautiful patina, which emphasizes its age.
Sturdy C-clasp pin fastening, fully functional.
The crescent and star combination was an extremely popular motif in the late 19th and early
20th centuries and symbolizes femininity and leadership.
Excellent antique condition. All stones are present and securely set in their prong settings.
No damage is visible.
