This striking profile portrait in ink is another
powerful example from my ongoing series of works
inspired by the aesthetic of Aubrey Beardsley.
The Art of the Line: The image captures the spirit of the *fin de siècle* through
a radical minimalism
based on precise black ink against pure white. The
composition is two-dimensional and focuses entirely on
expressive contours.
The work bears the title „The Determined Gaze“ for good reason.
The subject’s gaze is fixed and unwavering, directed to the left.
Every detail—from the curved shape of the eye to the firm
line of the lips—radiates unshakable concentration and
inner strength.
Aesthetic Perfection: Particularly characteristic of my
interpretation of the Beardsley style is the rendering of the hair.
It is not merely a collection of strands but forms a hypnotic structure
of rhythmic, undulating black-and-white bands. This
dynamic use of line lends incredible energy and depth to the calm profile,
as if a silent, powerful current were winding around the figure’s spirit. Intuitive creative process: Like all my works in this
style, this image emerged intuitively from the subconscious,
guided by a deep artistic connection to my source of inspiration.
