Offered for sale is an exceptionally large and intricately crafted display bowl from the renowned WMF manufactory. This museum-quality jardinière impresses with its masterful craftsmanship and the characteristic floral and figurative design language of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The two side handles are sculpted as elegant, fully three-dimensional female figures clad in classical drapery.
The long sides are dominated by a striking lion’s head relief, positioned beneath an oval cartouche.
The body features a continuous, delicately pierced relief of vine leaves and grapes, supported by elegantly curved feet that terminate in hoof-like forms.
The original, perfectly fitted glass insert echoes the motifs of the metal body. It features a fine etched meander frieze along the upper rim and stylized vine leaves on the raised sections of the glass.
The bowl is in beautiful, collectible, and original antique condition. The silver-plated metal displays a charming, authentic patina of age that lends the piece its historical character (it can be re-polished upon request). The glass insert is excellently preserved, showing no cracks or significant chips.
