Antique Garnet Bird Brooch, c. 1920, Tombac, Bohemian Garnets, Art Deco Jewelry
Enchanting antique garnet brooch in the shape of a bird – c. 1920 (Bohemia)
Offered for sale is an exquisite antique brooch dating from the late
Art Deco period / the turn of the era around 1920. The piece is
designed in the shape of an elegant bird in flight (swallow/bird of
good fortune) and is lavishly set with fiery-red Bohemian garnets.
The brooch impresses with the masterful, dense setting of stones
cut in the traditional Bohemian garnet style, which reveal a deep,
sparkling wine-red hue in the light. The bird’s eye is highlighted
by a contrasting light-colored accent stone, lending the brooch a
lively character.
The stones are set in tombac (the classic, gold-like metal alloy used
for authentic Bohemian garnet jewelry of this era). A beautiful
collector’s item and an elegant eye-catcher for lovers of historical
jewelry.
